MOST FREQUENT QUESTION

What grades do you offer?

We offer grades transitional kindergarten through eighth grade.

What foreign languages do you offer?

We offer Spanish and Russian at this time.  Students in grades TK-5 receive World Language instruction in either Spanish or Russian four days a week.   Students in grades 6-8 receive World Language instruction in both Spanish and Russian four days a week.

Do you have an After School Program?

We offer a free 6-6 Before/After School Program to meet the needs of working families.  The program is open to all EPIC families who complete an application.   The before school program starts at 6:00 a.m. and breakfast is served Monday-Friday.   The after school program runs from the end of the school day until 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.  An afternoon snack is provided.  Activities include our music program, tutoring, active games, gymnastics, E-Sports, science, art, and foreign language.

When do you offer music?

We offer music as part of our after school program twice a week from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in partnership with the West Sacramento Music Academy. We offer group classes in guitar, violin, bongo, recorder, piano and vocal. There are two concerts performed throughout the year to highlight what the children have learned.  This program is free of charge.

How do you meet the needs of English Language Learners?

All of our teachers are trained and implement Project GLAD (Guided Language Acquisition Design) teaching strategies. This program has proven to be very beneficial for ELLs and all students. To learn more about Project GLAD, please visit their website at: http://begladtraining.com/  We also offer daily ELD pull-out for students who are new to the English language or need extra language support.  All EL students receive integrated and designated ELD according to California requirements.

How do you meet the needs of students with IEPs or 504 Plans?

We have a full time Special Education teacher and paraeducator to meet the needs of our Special Education students. We offer RSP, speech, OT, PT and other services as indicated on their IEPs or 504 Plans.

Do you offer a hot lunch?

We offer a hot breakfast, hot lunch, and after school snack Monday-Friday and participate in the National School Lunch Program to provide free or reduced meals for qualifying families.

What are the school hours?

We provide instruction 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday. The school office is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.
